Avengr is a small web design and digital marketing studio based in Franklin, Tennessee. We build mostly in Webflow, and we look after about 25 client websites on monthly care plans. We're hiring a developer to own the day-to-day side of that: keeping those sites live, updated, and fast, so the rest of the team can stay focused on new builds.
The right person has built plenty of sites and has a good eye, but is a developer at heart and actually likes the check-ins, cleanups, and troubleshooting. You stay on top of recurring tasks without being reminded, you catch things that could be better and say so, and you make sure everyone on the team knows what's going on.
What you'll own
- The daily request queue: content updates, CMS items, blog posts, image swaps, team bios, etc.
- Monthly care plan checks on every site: platform and plugin updates, form tests, broken links, image optimization, backups, PageSpeed
- Troubleshooting when something breaks: critical errors, plugin conflicts, forms that stop delivering, DNS issues, slow pages
- Uptime monitoring, backups, and host transfers
- Technical SEO and AI search (AEO) fixes from Ahrefs and HubSpot audits
- Recommendations when you spot something that could perform better
- A clear write-up and time entry on every task in Asana or BugHerd, so our project manager can report to the client
In a given week that means Webflow, WordPress (SiteGround, WP Engine), Cloudflare, GitHub, Vercel, Google Tag Manager, GA4, Search Console, form tools like Basin and Mailgun, and a long tail of others. Nobody knows all of them. You do need to be good at figuring out the ones you don't.
Must have
- 3+ years working on client websites
- Strong Webflow: CMS collections, components, interactions, publishing, hosting and bandwidth
- WordPress beyond the dashboard: staging-first updates, PHP versions and memory limits, reading error logs, restoring from backups, moving sites between hosts
- DNS, domains, SSL, and email/form delivery (Cloudflare, registrars such as GoDaddy and Namecheap, SPF/DKIM)
- Hands-on use of Claude Code or a similar AI coding tool, with enough understanding to explain exactly what it changed and why, in terms a client or PM can follow
- Strong written and spoken English. You care about spelling and grammar on client-facing work, down to CMS field names
- A consistent weekly schedule with at least 4 hours of overlap with 9am-5pm US Central time
- A track record of picking up new platforms quickly
Strongly preferred
- GitHub, Vercel, Cloudflare Workers, Supabase, Next.js, or a headless CMS like Strapi
- Google Tag Manager, GA4, Search Console, Ahrefs, and technical SEO
- Support experience at a managed WordPress host or a website care agency
- Asana, BugHerd, Slack
Nice to have
- A portfolio of full site builds and an eye for design (Figma to Webflow, Figma to Wordpress)
- Shopify, Squarespace, Wix
- Basin, Zapier, Make, HubSpot, Zoho, or GoHighLevel
- Google Workspace admin
Schedule and pay
- Independent contractor, paid hourly in USD, rate based on experience
- 25 hours a week to start on a fixed schedule, with room to grow toward 30-40 hours
- We work on US Central time. We'd rather nobody work overnight to make that overlap happen, so candidates in the Americas are generally preferred
