Backyard Studios
We are a digital marketing agency in San Antonio that actually moves. Founded 2002. ADDY and American Marketing Association awards. Clients across the country. Everything custom, in-house. No templates, no page builders.
Small senior team. Everyone works the same accounts, so you sit with the creative director, the strategists and the marketing team, not off in a corner. We are growing and we are busy.
The Role
You build and maintain client marketing websites. Mostly WordPress and Webflow. Fast turnarounds, a lot of clients, real launches. Sometimes you inherit someone else's React site and have to fix it.
You must be able to:
- Hand-code a custom WordPress theme in PHP. Not assemble a page builder.
- Rebuild a Figma design in Webflow so it matches, phone and desktop
- Write HTML, CSS and JavaScript without a framework
- Open a React or Vue site you did not build and fix it. You do not need to be a specialist. You need to not be stopped by it.
- Implement on-page SEO you are handed: title tags, metas, headings, alt text, schema
- Make a slow page fast, and say why it was slow
- Handle DNS, SFTP, hosting, SSL, migrations, plugin conflicts, launches
- Run several sites at once without losing track
How You'll Work
- Mobile-first, always
- Ask early. Flag a problem the day you see it, not the day it is due
- Clients hear back the same day
- Work comes through ClickUp, already prioritized
- We use AI daily and we are good at it. This is not an "I have tried ChatGPT" box. You direct the tool, and you can explain anything with your name on it
Requirements
- 3+ years building marketing websites at an agency or in-house marketing team
- Links to sites you built. We will open them on a phone. No links, no consideration.
- In person, in our office off FM 2252 in the Garden Ridge area, Monday to Friday, 8:00 to 5:00. Not remote, not hybrid.
Compensation

- 401(k) matching

Application Questions
- A client emails at 9:00 AM saying their website is down. You open it and get a white screen. Walk us through the first four things you check, in order.
- Describe a website problem that took you more than a day to fix. What was broken, what did you try that did not work, and what actually fixed it?
- Send links to three marketing or brochure websites you personally built for a business or nonprofit. For one of them, tell us what you did to make it work efficiently on mobile.
- You estimated a task at 3 hours. You are now 2 hours in and not close. Walk us through exactly what you do, and when.
